Coda

Panic, Inc. (the nice folks who brought us Transmit) have released another promising app dubbed “Coda”. It call to fame is that it is a “One Window Web Development” application.
From the site:
So, we code web sites by hand. And one day, it hit us: our web workflow was wonky. We’d have our text editor open, with Transmit open to save files to the server. We’d be previewing in Safari, running queries in Terminal, using a CSS editor, and reading references on the web. “This could be easier,” we realized. “And much cooler.”
The first word that comes to mind here is “Dreamweaver.” Anyone agree? Maybe their slogan should be “We just don’t want to use the word IDE.”
Ok. Sorry. Maybe that was a little harsh. I guess I just couldn’t resist. Regardless of what my first reaction was, I must admit, it is a very slick application. And yes, it does provide a viable solution to the list of web-related woes above.
Since I am a big fan of Transmit, and also because I am a sucker for a lovely interface, I will give it a try. Over the next 15 days of my trial period, I’m going to really dig into this app. I’m rather doubtful that I’ll give up Textmate this fast, but you never know.
