Your Random Historical Figure of the Day: Levi Strauss

The Quick and Dirty

  1. The founder of one of the United States’ longest lived privately owned apparel companies.
  2. Originally moved to California in hopes to strike it rich during the gold rush… selling tents.
  3. Instead of making millions selling tents, he did so by selling jeans.
  4. He received a patent for using rivets in the pockets to make them more durable; feature found even in today’s modern jeans.
