Yahoooooo!

Over the last few days, I’ve been interviewing with a few teams at Yahoo! for a potential job out in Sunnyvale, CA. Today, I received a call from the team lead from the Yahoo! Small Business team and they are going to fly me out for an in-person interview. Wow.

So this is actually something that has been in the works for quite some time now. Originally, I had interviewed with the Address Book team which didn’t go nearly as well as the one for Small Business. It wasn’t a bad interview, rather it was myself over estimating my skillset. Honestly, before this point I had never experienced an interview where the company tested the depths of my technical knowledge. What I didn’t take into consideration was the fact that I may be the superhero where I come from, however Yahoo! is nothing but superheros! Truly, this whole process was a humbling experience that was long overdue.

Another interesting thing that this has brought about was my personal exploration of the various Yahoo! properties. Don’t tell anyone, but for quite some time their network has been absent from my life both professionally as well as personally. I’ve been aware of the YUI libraries for a while now but never really explored the depths of them. After chatting with Nate at Refresh 06, the first thing I did was jump on the Developer Network and start reading. After that I’ve been surveying most of the other properties and am quite amazed at how large the company really is. Sure, it was a rather fare-weather move on my part, but I’m really gald I did.

If all goes well, I’ll find a way to jump into a comfy spot and become a full-on Yahoo!
